FIFA Street 3 is the second entry in the FIFA Street series to appear on the Nintendo DS. The game takes football to the streets of many places around the world and features 18 international teams and a roster of over 250 star players. The game can be played with the buttons or with the unique DS stylus control. Movement is done with the control pad, all other actions can be done with the stylus. Shooting is done by sliding the stylus towards the goal, while passing is done by touching towards a teammate. In defense, a slide is used to tackle.
Doing tricks is a central part of the series and this DS iteration is no different with a number of different moves. These are made by combining different stylus slides. For each successful trick, the player receives trick points which increase their gamebreaker counter. Once full, the gamebreaker can be triggered. The gamebreaker is a kind of quick event where the player must touch the touchscreen when an icon appears. If successful, it will lead to a goal. When the opponent gets a gamebreaker, the player can counter it by tapping the screen faster.
Along with the standard friendlies, the game also features a street challenge mode and a kicking mode. In the street challenge, the player must complete events to earn reputation. To get a high reputation for the player, you have to not only win, but do it with a team with good chemistry so that the team behaves as a group. By successfully completing the street challenge, the player earns unlockables. Kick ups mode is a rhythm action mini-game where the player has to touch the screen in time with the music. The game is also playable in multiplayer for two players via a wireless connection.
