FIFA 2003 continues the trend of improving each new version each year by keeping the formula that worked, while adding new features to make the game more enjoyable.
Some of these new features include a "Freestyle" command, which is activated by the right stick, requiring you to perform special moves, such as a feint, or kick the ball far enough forward to gain some speed.
The new and improved "dead ball" control makes corner kicks, free kicks, etc. more controllable and gives you more options. Passing has been improved to allow for better passing by kicking directly to a teammate, passing nowhere in particular, or passing openly for anyone to take.
