Faxanadu is a 2D platformer with RPG elements in addition to side-scrolling action.
The story is a classic of good versus evil. Disaster strikes the once peaceful Elven city of Eolis. The sky is raining meteorites on the World Tree. Wild animals and evil monsters terrorize the citizens. Water supplies from wells dwindle, plants wither and people die. A lone warrior returns to Eolis and the king asks him to discover the source of the disasters and put an end to an unexpected wave of hostility from the Dwarves.
