Fallout 3 is an action role-playing video game developed and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the third installment in the main Fallout series. Released almost ten years after Fallout 2, it marks the takeover of the license by a new studio, after the bankruptcy of Interplay and the dissolution of Black Isle Studios. This results in two major changes: the game goes from top-down isometric 3D to true first-person 3D, thanks to the Oblivion engine, and gets closer to the design of Bethesda's games, which are more action-oriented, exploration-oriented and with less complex quests.
