F1 2010 is a racing game with the official Formula 1 license: it presents all the cars, drivers, courses and rules of the 2010 season. The game clearly emphasizes the simulation aspect but there is also a mode arcade for less experienced players.

The most important mode is the career in which the player starts as the second driver of a small racing team. The objective is of course to become Formula 1 champion in a reasonable number of seasons. Reaching the team leader's goal rewards experience points which in turn improve the car. But racing isn't the only thing the player needs to keep in mind: press interviews influence his reputation, and becoming the team's first driver means he has more say in the strategic decisions of the team. He may even choose to negotiate a contract with another team.

Besides the full weekend with practice, qualifying and the race, a shorter weekend is also available. In the workshop, the player can tune his car or choose between predefined configurations.
