Eikō no St Andrews is a golf game that focuses on the original course of St Andrews, also known as the home of golf. Game modes include Practice, Stroke Play, Match Play, and Tournament. Depending on the game type, you can take turns against one or more players or compete in matches or tournaments against CPU players. The character models include several professional golfers from that era, although many things are adjustable, including character heights, player names, and hand preference.
Gameplay uses a 3rd person rear camera and shows a swinging ellipse around the player character which indicates the power of the swing, which when pressed will display a red blip on the ball icon which will reduce the red circle indicating accuracy with which you hit the ball, which also requires good timing to hit the ball in the best possible way by sending it flying long distances. Each strike is indicated by a different colored vector arc so that at any time in the game you can see your full trajectory from the start point to your current position.
