Earth Defense Force 2017 is the third game in the well-known Chikyuu Boueigun series in Japan, and the first released in North America (the previous two Chikyuu Boueigun were released in Europe as Monster Attack and Global Defense Force respectively). The game is a 3D third-person shooter featuring combat with floods of large enemies on massive, sprawling maps.
