Defender put players in charge of a ship sent to protect humanity from waves and waves of attacking aliens.
Armed with smart bombs and able to use hyperspace to move quickly around the planet, the player's ship must fight against Bombers, Pods, Swarmers, Baiters and Landers - which can capture humanoids and turn them into deadly mutants and relentless. Fail to save the humanoids from free fall or mutant transformation, and the planet is destroyed.
