Dragon Quest IX 9: Sentinels of the Starry Skies NINTENDO DS

Dragon Quest IX marks several firsts for the series: it is the first title originally released for a handheld system and not to have true random encounters (except when traveling by sea). Instead, the player can see enemies on the map. While the game is not the first main series title in 3D, for the first time, all equippable items are visible at all times on the character models.

Additionally, the game was designed to be multiplayer-oriented: players can wirelessly bring their adventurers to their friends' worlds to play alongside them, and even swap copies of their heroes, who can carry special items like treasure maps with them. There is also downloadable content available via Wi-Fi, such as new items and quests.
