Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi is a game based on the Dragon Ball Z manga and anime franchise, and is the fourth installment in the Budokai Tenkaichi series. The game is a 3D fighter featuring various characters from the Dragon Ball Z franchise. Players can choose from 28 characters or create their own custom character to fight against AI, or with another player locally or online.
The game features several game modes. Story mode follows the anime's plot, including several movies, and recreates many iconic battles from the series. Most battles are standard one-on-one fights, but there are special boss battles featuring giant characters like Great Ape Vegeta and Janemba. Hero mode is similar to story mode in gameplay, but features a new story centered around the player's custom character. Finally, there is Tournament mode, in which up to 16 characters can participate in a standard single-elimination tournament.
