Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is the first platform video game featuring Donkey Kong to be developed and distributed by Nintendo since Rareware was acquired by Microsoft. It was released for GameCube in December 2004 in Japan, February 2005 in Europe, and March 2005 in North America and Australia. The game has also been adapted for the Wii, available since December 2008 in Japan, in May 2009 in North America and in June 2009 in Europe and Australia.
Original in its form, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat created a surprise when it was announced at E3 2004. What people knew little or nothing about was that this new title was the result of all the efforts of Nintendo EAD, Nintendo's recent internal studio.
