Dementium II is the sequel to the DS exclusive horror title Dementium: The Ward.
Story Dementium II follows the story of the first game in which players take control of the brain surgery vessel William Redmoor as he is tasked with fighting and attempting to defeat the nightmarish monsters he sees. Whereas in the first game, William fought his way out of his dark dream world as part of a therapy method known as "Phase 1." Dementium II opens with "Phase 1" deemed a success, and William is now tasked with working on "Phase 2" of his treatment. This somewhat questionable therapy once again sees William fighting through a horrific nightmare world that shifts from his prison-turned-hospital to an alternate vision infested with monsters and demons.
Gameplay Dementium II plays similarly to the first game and other Nintendo DS first-person shooters. Players move with the D-pad or, for left-handed users, the ABXY buttons, and look around or aim using the touch screen. The only button used regularly is L (or R for left-handed users) to attack or fire weapons. Accessing inventory items, interacting with elements of the game environment, or jumping or crouching are all done with various buttons and options on the touch screen. A large portion of the center of the touch screen also serves as a map.
