CONTRA III 3 THE ALIEN WARS (SUPER NINTENDO SNES)

The hideous Red Falcon, believed to have been destroyed long ago by Earth's greatest commandos, Mad Dog and Scorpion, has risen again, this time very angry and thirsty for revenge. His armies march through cities, across lands, intent on exterminating the human race like bad business fleas. Two commandos, Jimbo and Sully, have come now to defeat Red Falcon and save what's left of the world from his hideous plans.

The Alien War is the third entry in the Contra series. Like its predecessors, it is primarily a side-scrolling shooter with a heavy emphasis on action. The protagonist can carry two weapons (as opposed to one in previous entries) and fire in eight directions while standing still. New abilities include wall climbing, pole grabbing, and tank navigation. Some parts of the decor can be destroyed.

In a few cases, the protagonist will also participate in motorcycle changes. Two stages have a top-down view and play differently from side-scrolling levels, with more freedom to explore and the need to complete mission objectives rather than just moving forward in one direction and killing all enemies.
