The Xbox 360 is a video game console developed by Microsoft, in cooperation with IBM, ATI Technologies, Samsung and SiS. It succeeds the Xbox, and it competes, in line with the seventh generation video game consoles, the Wii from Nintendo and the PlayStation 3 from Sony.
As of April 23, 2016, the figures give 85.80 million copies sold worldwide. Three models of the console can be distinguished — the initial model released first in the United States on November 22, 2005, the light and quiet version called Xbox 360 S released on July 16, 2010 in Europe, and the third version, the Xbox 360 E marketed in 2013.
The console offers backward compatibility with some of the titles released on Xbox as well as new ideas such as basic nicknames that go from one to several that can be generated by the console. The Xbox One succeeded it at the end of 2013.
After 10 years of existence, Phil Spencer announces on April 20, 2016 that the production of this console stops in order to liquidate the stocks until exhaustion. Nevertheless, the SAV as well as the Xbox Live servers will continue to operate until an indefinite date.
