The Dreamcast (Dorīmukyasuto?) is a video game console developed by Sega, and the successor to the Saturn. Marketed in November 1998 in Japan, it was the first sixth-generation console on the market, ahead of its competitors – Sony's PlayStation 2, Microsoft's Xbox and Nintendo's GameCube. Its name is composed of the words dream (dream) and cast (from broadcast: to diffuse). She was known during her development as Blackbelt, Dural, and Katana.
