Championship Bowling is played like a standard 10-pin bowling game with the objective of knocking down as many pins as possible with the bowling ball.

After choosing a lane (5 different models), a character (4 different characters), and the weight of the bowling ball they will use, the player is placed on the lane. To play bowling, the player first chooses the location from which the bowling ball will play, then, using the "Control" panel, the player must time it correctly to stop the ball at the desired angle, and finally, time it correctly to stop the "Power" bar at the desired power. The power and weight of the ball determine the effect of the control. Up to four players can play using the NES Four Score accessory, with all players taking turns.
