Call of Duty 2: Big Red One is a first-person shooter video game developed by Treyarch and published by Activision for GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox. It is a side story/expansion to the original Call of Duty 2 game, released for PC and Xbox 360 in the same year.
Big Red One differs from other games in the Call of Duty franchise in that it focuses on a single Allied formation during World War II: the US Army's 1st Infantry Division, which goes by the nickname Big Red. One due to their unit patch which features a large red number one. The game covers the division's role in the North African campaign, the invasion of Sicily, landing on Omaha Beach in Europe and moving east, and finally crossing the Siegfried Line into Germany. Each chapter is at the back of the book with period footage from the Military Channel, with voice-overs courtesy of Mark Hamill (who appeared in Sam Fuller's film The Big Red One), impersonating a WWII documentary .
