Cabela's Big Game Hunter takes the player to six international hotspots in an attempt to acquire big game trophies such as grizzly bears, mountain lions, elk, moose, caribou, and more. These locations consist of New Zealand, Africa, Argentina, United States, and even British Columbia. The player can also hunt small game as well as hunting birds such as geese, ducks and quail.
Authentic Cabela gear can be used as clothing, tree and ground supports, bait and calls as well as powerful weapons including rifles, shotguns and pistols. Players must also follow actual local hunting regulations such as bag limits, time limits, and protected species. Failure to follow these rules may result in a penalty and, if continued, may end the level as well as the game.
