This game is heavily inspired by the movie of the same name. A big musical show is organized by Blue and his friends. However, there is a lot to do to prepare, such as setting up the stage, playing instruments, rehearsing songs, getting props for the stage, and inviting guests to the show.
Players take control of Blue and guide her through different areas around her home and neighborhood while trying to complete preparations for the show. The main game is divided into six different acts. Each act requires the player to search for 3 different clues from Blue. Finding Blue's 3 clues will then require the player to solve a multiple-choice question about the meaning of the clues. Some of the locations the player explores will have interactive elements in the background which will usually cause a short animation when interacted with. The player can also find and keep an item in their inventory which can be used when interacting with other characters. Some locations also have Skidoo mini-games.
Some of the Skidoo minigames include sprinkler jumping, cupcake color matching, birdsong, a red light/green light type game, and a rhythm-based drum game.
There is also a Parent Info mode which allows an adult to select for their child any clue finding act to play or allow them to play any song contained in the game. These songs are taken from the Blue's Big Musical Movie.
