BATTLEZONE ATARI 2600

Commonly considered the first ancestor of first-person shooters (FPS), Battlezone is a 3D tank game originally released in arcades and then officially converted to many systems. Earth has been invaded and you and your tank are leading the defensive effort. You drive around the battlefield from a first-person view, targeting and shooting tanks, planes and UFOs. You have radar to help you see where enemies are in direction and distance. Items can be used as strategic cover. The controls realistically simulate the trajectories of a tank, so the direction and speed settings are varied - combining forward movements to the right and backward movements to the left (as you can do on keypad versions), you change direction more quickly.
