Battlestations: Pacific is the successor to Battlestations: Midway and once again pits the Japanese against the Americans. Two single-player campaigns await the player, one depicting the Japanese beginning with the attack on Pearl Harbor and the American campaign following the Battle of Midway.
Similar to the Battlefield series, the game places the player right in the middle of the battle, always surrounded by AI units filling the empty spaces. But instead of fighting on foot, players only use several types of battleships, submarines, and aircraft. These are launched by the players at their team's HQ and can be equipped with different weapon loadouts. Depending, for example, on the aircraft type (bomber, fighter, or other), these range from MGs to rockets and bombs to carpet bombers and paratroopers. Of course, once the support bar reaches zero, no more units can be launched.
