Set 40 years before Sci-Fi Channel's 2004 miniseries Battlestar Galactica, the game acts as a prequel to the events of the new series. Players control Captain William Adama as he takes part in 15 missions leading to the end of the First Cylon War.
Missions are tightly scripted. Players control three varieties of Viper fighters, as well as captured Cylon raiders, depending on mission requirements. Players will also occupy the fixed defense turrets aboard Galactica. Missions have clear objectives, often with time limits, and are voiced and tracked by voice radio conversations between Wingmen and Galactica's War Room. Players are ranked in a variety of areas after each level (including wingman accuracy and keep alive), and unlock upgrades and bonus gear for high marks.
