ATHENS 2004 (PLAYSTATION 2 PS2)

Official game of the Games of the XXVIII Olympiad held in Athens in August 2004, Athens 2004 includes 25 events spread across 8 sports, the real stadiums and arenas such as the state-of-the-art Olympic Stadium built for the competition and the Panathinaiko, venue for the first Olympic Games modern and 64 nations around the world.

While new developers Eurocom (after two games from ATD) have retained most of the gameplay still inspired by the old buttons of the early 80s, some events have some interesting twists. While the sprint events need no introductions, there are two mid-distance events (800m and 1500m) which require the player to control their pace in order to reach the final curve cool enough to have a second breath and sprint to the finish. Other innovations relate to field events, such as the high jump requiring the player to alternate buttons not as fast as possible, but to time them as best as possible to the athlete's steps, and the disc rotates the player around analog buttons to build power boost, among other things.
