Action Girlz Racing is a go-kart racing game with a cast of eight girls who race in miniature cars. The gameplay is very similar to Myth Makers: Super Kart GP from the same developer. The three game modes are Single Trial, Time Trial and Grand Prize. There are three difficulty levels (Beginner, Experienced and Advanced) and three racing classes (50cc, 100cc and 150cc). The game includes environments such as a fairy tale castle, sunset lagoon, girlz high action, dolphin bay resort and aquacoral resort. As with many of the developer's games, most content is locked down from the start. Most race characters, tracks, and classes become available after collecting a certain number of flowers during races as currency. The different characters only differ in their appearance, not in their abilities.
During the race, it is possible to pass other racers and the tracks contain many obstacles which slow down the racers or can be knocked down. Eight types of power-ups can be picked up such as nitro, umbrella shield, shoot opponents or stun them. Power-ups can be doubled or maxed by collecting diamonds. Tracks often have forks, but instead of offering alternate routes or shortcuts, they often lead to dead ends, forcing the runner to backtrack.
The Wii version supports local split-screen multiplayer games for up to four players. The karts are motion controlled by holding the Wii Remote horizontally and then tilting it left or right. The PS2 version supports split-screen gaming for two players and up to four players via Multi-Tap.
