In the 1942 sequel, which is still a vertically scrolling shooter, the player once again fights for the clouds during World War II, this time in an intense battle just off the Midway Islands.
Gameplay updates include an energy bar, which can be reduced by being hit by incoming fire or using a special weapon. The energy bar can be replenished by collecting power-ups, while special weapons (lightning, cyclones, and waves) can knock down any fighters on screen at the time.
