Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Dairantō Sumasshu Burazāzu Ekkusu?, sometimes abbreviated as SSBB), is a fighting video game developed by Sora for Japanese publisher Nintendo. The game was released for the Wii in January 2008 in Japan, in March in North America, then in June in Australia and Europe.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl brings together characters from various video game franchises. It includes characters from third-party publishers for the first time, for a larger total number than its predecessor Super Smash Bros. Melee. The object of the game is to knock an opponent off the screen. Brawl offers an adventure mode, the Subspace Emissary, whose scenario features the characters present in the game. It offers a multiplayer mode for up to four players, and is the first installment in the series to allow combat in line with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
It is the third episode of the Super Smash Bros. series. The game is a major critical success, but also a big commercial success, with 13.32 million units sold worldwide in September 2020.
