At a time when shogunal and imperial forces clashed for supremacy over Japan, Chizuru travels to Kyoto in search of her missing father. She encounters the Shinsengumi, a band of samurai warriors who have sworn to protect the shogun. Chizuru learns that they are also looking for her father.
