Live cartoon Roger Rabbit's has been charged with the murder of Marvin Acme. The motive is that his wife, Jessica Rabbit, was photographed playing with him. Obviously, this kind of business is enough to drive a man, or a rabbit, to kill. But he didn't and now there seems to be some sort of mystery surrounding Marvin Acme's last will and testament... and with it, the Toontown property. In order to clear his name, Roger called in Eddie Valliant, a sensible detective. Together they must travel Hollywood, Toontown, the Wilderness and Toontown in an effort to find the pieces of Marvin's original will and stop the evil Judge Doom and his henchmen, the Weasels.
You play this game as private detective, Eddie Valliant, while Roger Rabbit wanders through the landscape behind you. Your job is to search the town for clues, items, and jokes that will be your only defense if the weasels catch up with poor Roger. Except for those weasels (and the birds flying overhead), Roger is more or less invincible as a toon. This means that for most of the gameplay it will be ignored. However, if the weasels spawn in an area with you (with an alarm sounding as they get closer), Roger will go blind and try to run away. It's then up to Eddie to steer the Weasels away from Roger or indulge in knock-knock jokes if they catch him.
