After the previous two Road Rash matches, the player has conquered the United States Illegal Motorcycle Championship. But why settle for that when you can conquer the world; racing through the peaceful streets of the UK, dodging animals in Kenya, blazing through the night in Japan or jumping the hilly circuits of Italy?
Keeping the same spirit as the previous two games, Road Rash 3 adds all new digitized sprites (based on the Sega-CD remake released a year earlier), bike upgrades, more weapons, and more police. evil. Most other aspects of the game remain unchanged: the player starts in the lowest division with a small amount of money and a slow, unwieldy bike. To get more money (and get a faster bike), the player must beat as many of the other 15 racers to the finish line, using any means possible, even kicking and kicking them. punches to knock them out. By clearing (finishing on the top three places) the five races of a level, the player moves on to the next one, where the opponents are faster and tougher, the police are more active and a race is longer.
As for new gameplay elements in the series finale title released for Sega's 16-bit console, bikes can also be upgraded by choosing cheaper upgrades (instead of just buying new ones) such as the tires (less skidding), the engine (improves acceleration and top speed), the suspension (allows better control when landing after jumps) and the body (the bike takes more hits before turn into smoking metal). Instead of relying on simple motorcycle patrols, the police now have helicopters (which try to land on the player) and patrol cars, which try to block the path of the bike, forcing it to stop or to collide to get a bust. To make things easier (or harder), new weapons have been added, some of which allow the wielder to stun an opponent for a few seconds, making them the perfect victim for an incoming vehicle. Another novelty, if the player finishes the race with a weapon, he wears it to the next race.
