One day, Kirby is surprised to discover that he cannot have dreams during his usual nap after lunch. Soon he discovers that King Dedede has stolen the Star Rod, which supplies the Fountain of Dreams with power, and shattered it into several pieces, entrusting one to each of his allies. Kirby has no choice but to find these coins and bring dreams back to dreamland.
Kirby's Adventure is a side-scrolling action platformer. As the pink puffball Kirby, the player explores many colorful lands with a variety of enemies to defeat. To aid him on his journey, Kirby has the ability to eat enemies and spit them out as projectiles. With some enemies, Kirby can capture their abilities and e.g. earn a sword, shoot lasers, or even fly around the level. There are seven different stages, each divided into several levels, and sometimes also containing some bonus mini-games. The game cartridge has a backup battery to save games without the need for passwords.
